Below are lists of the nutrients that play a key role in our immune system. These are the foods that provide those nutrients.
Vitamin C ( guava, papaya, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, orange and grapefruit)
Vitamin E (seeds, vegetable oils and grains)
Carotenoids (They are vitamin-A complexes from plants that give carrots and winter squashes their orange-to-deep-yellow coloring inside. Other foods high in carotenoids are dark leafy greens, red and yellow peppers, dark-flesh rutabagas, apricots, peaches, broccoli, green beans, sugar snap peas and various tropical fruits)
Bioflavonoids (these include a wide variety of fruits and vegetables: 6 servings a day)
Zinc (oysters, zinc fortified cereals, crab, beef, turkey and beans)
Garlic
Selenium (tuna, red snapper, lobster, shrimp, whole grains, vegetables depending on the selenium content of the soil they’re grown in, brown rice, egg yolks, cottage cheese, chicken (white meat), sunflower seeds, garlic, Brazil nuts, and lamb chops)
Omega three fatty acids (flax oil and fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel)
